Search tips
The search box finds both titles and people. This page lists what you can type: plain text, Chinese and pinyin, catalog numbers and provider IDs.
Basics#
- Search ignores case and full-width versus half-width characters.
- Traditional and Simplified Chinese are interchangeable. Searching 钢铁人 or 鋼鐵人 both work, and 成龍 finds 成龙.
- In Chinese, you can search for any part of a title, even a single character.
- For English and digits:
- 1 to 2 characters match only the beginning, so you do not get a flood of unrelated results while typing.
- "th" finds The Matrix and Thor, but not Bathroom.
- A leading The, A or An can be left out: "ma" finds The Matrix.
- The start of the title, the original title and a person's name all count.
- 3 or more characters match anywhere in the title: "bys" finds Abyss.
Pinyin#
If you cannot type Chinese, use pinyin to find Chinese titles and people:
- Full pinyin. At least 3 letters, matched anywhere. "liudehua" finds 刘德华, and "liulang" finds 流浪地球.
- Initials. At least 2 letters, matched from the start of a word. "ldh" finds 刘德华 and "lldq" finds 流浪地球. "dh" does not find 刘德华.
- Common readings of characters with several pronunciations are all matched.
- Very common syllables (such as "shi") return many results and are a little slower. Type a few more letters to be faster and more precise.
Catalog numbers#
- Case does not matter, and the hyphen, space, underscore and period can be left out: "cat1001", "CAT-1001" and "cat 1001" are the same.
- You can type only the start, with at least 2 characters: "cat-10" finds CAT-1001, CAT-1050 and so on.
Search by provider ID#
Paste an ID from a metadata source to find the matching title or person:
- IMDb: "tt0133093" finds a title, "nm0000206" finds a person.
- With the source name: "tmdb:603", "tvdb:121361" or "imdb:tt0133093". A space after the colon is fine.
A bare number such as "603" is not treated as an ID, so it does not match numbers inside titles by accident.
Searching for people#
- Aliases added by merging people are found too.
- If a plugin provides an alias map, any name in the map finds the person. See the actors and people page.
