Members
A member is an account that can sign in. Each member has their own watch history, resume positions, favorites and preferences. This page shows how to add and manage members, what you can control for each one, and how many your plan allows.
Add a member#
- Open Members in the admin console.
- Choose Add member.
- Enter a name. The initial password is optional and can be set later.
- Choose Create member.
Manage a member#
Open a member with Edit. You can change the name, set or reset the password, disable the account or delete it.
- A disabled member is signed out immediately and cannot sign in. Their watch history is kept, and they do not count toward your plan's member limit.
- Deleting a member removes the account, watch history and device sign-ins. This cannot be undone.
- The server always keeps at least one administrator. You cannot delete or demote the last one, and you cannot disable or demote your own account.
- Changing a password signs that account out on every device. Players must sign in again.
- A member can also have a PIN (4 to 6 digits) for avatar sign-in. A PIN locks after too many failed attempts; setting a new PIN unlocks it. A member who has a PIN but no password must enter the current PIN to change or clear it, or to set a password; a member with a password must enter the current password.
Permissions#
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Can sign in to the admin console. Other members can only watch and manage their own preferences and devices. |
| Library access | Libraries that are not selected are completely invisible to this member: lists, details, images and playback. New libraries are never opened automatically. Choose All libraries to include libraries added later. Administrators are not restricted. |
| Deletion permission | By default only administrators can delete library content. You can allow a member to delete from all libraries or from selected ones. It only works if the library itself has Allow deletion turned on. |
| Casting | Turn casting off for a single member. |
| Sign in each time the browser opens | The member's web sign-in lasts only while the browser stays open. Useful on shared computers. |
| Hide from sign-in list | Players do not list this member on their sign-in screen; they type the name instead. |
| Parental controls PRO · MAX | See Parental controls. |
Member limit by plan#
| Plan | Members |
|---|---|
| FREE | 3 |
| PRO | 10 |
| MAX | Unlimited |
Disabled members do not count. If you have more members than your plan allows, for example after a plan ends, open License and choose Choose which members to keep. Members who are not kept behave like this:
- In 3rd-party players for Emby or Jellyfin they can still sign in and browse. Pressing play shows a notice video that the plan limit is exceeded.
- They cannot sign in to the web player.
- An administrator who is not kept can only use the admin console, to adjust members or activate a license.
See Compare plans for all limits.
