Buy, activate and move a license

Your license is an email address plus a license key. It is not tied to an account. This page shows how to buy and activate a license, move it to another server, and release a server you no longer use.

Buy and activate#

  1. Choose a plan on the website and pay; payment is handled by Creem. The license key is sent to the email you entered at checkout. Keep the email and the key safe; together they are your proof of purchase.
  2. In the admin console, open License, enter the key and choose Activate. The server must be able to reach the internet.
  3. After activation the page shows your plan, period, end date and the email it is licensed to.

If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder. If it is still missing, look it up on the license website with a code sent to your email, or contact support.

A license key starts with KRYS and contains only letters, digits and hyphens.

If you buy while your server is on the free trial, you receive a new license key by email. Enter it on the License page like any other key; you do not need to unbind the trial first.

Free trial#

You can claim a 14-day PRO trial on the website. We send the trial key to your email. Enter it on the License page like any other key.

  • The 14 days start when you first activate the key, not when you claim it. A key that is not activated within 30 days stops working.
  • Each server can use a trial once. Entering a second trial key on the same server shows This server has already used a trial license.
  • When the trial ends the server returns to FREE. Your data is untouched, and the License page shows the days left while it runs.

Move to another server#

  • Moving is allowed. Activate the same key on the new server and stop using the old one. When you change machines or restore a backup, the new server can take over directly once the old one has not connected for 36 hours or more (up to 3 times in 30 days).
  • Copying is not allowed. If the same installation runs in two places at the same time, the license shows In use elsewhere. You have 7 days to unbind one of them or buy another license; after that the server returns to FREE. Entering the key again does not fix it.
  • A second server. PRO can be activated on up to 2 servers and MAX on up to 3. Activate the key on each; each takes one slot.

Unbind a server#

The License page lists the servers bound to your key.

  1. If all slots are used, All servers are in use appears when you activate. Choose Unbind next to the server you want to release. That server returns to FREE the next time it checks in; its data is untouched.
  2. To release the server you are on, use Unbind this server. Your libraries and members are kept and you can activate again later.
  3. If you cannot reach the old server (broken or lost), sign in on the license website with an email code and unbind there, or unbind with the key.

Limits:

  • Each license can be unbound 3 times in any 30 days. After that, contact support.
  • A server that has not connected for 30 days releases its slot automatically.
  • A PRO license can be used on up to 2 servers and a MAX license on up to 3; the License page lists them.

Refunds#

Licenses cannot be refunded after purchase. Only cases required by law, such as a duplicate charge or a key that could not be delivered, are handled by support. At checkout you agree to immediate delivery of digital content and give up the right of withdrawal.

If a payment is refunded or lost in a dispute, the license is revoked. The server returns to FREE the next time it checks in with the license service; your libraries, members and data are kept. The License page shows the license as revoked, and Unbind this server removes it from the server.
